My generation talks a lot about dreams, about pursuing things we love, doing what we love every day, and making it happen.
But on the other side of the fence, there’s expectations about making a life, about getting that graduate job, about doing “what you’re supposed to”.
It’s a tricky balance.
Because why shouldn’t we peruse things we love?
As I’ve got older, it’s been interesting to watch how my different friends, school/uni acquaintances, have found their own different paths, and have all gone down different routes, different things that have made them happy. But we’re all in different places, different stages still, with ideals, dreams, and realities. Nothing’s perfect, really. Not for anyone. But at the same time, I want to do it right – the way I want to do it. Because why should I settle for anything less than what I want? Why should I do what I’m expected to do, just because?
Creating, being creative, and having the freedom to do so are important to me – and that’s what I want to pursue, no matter what other people say.
I’m still figuring it out. I think really we all are. But what do we choose? Which path do we follow? And how do we make it happen?
